I'm 29 years old, Irish born & raised but London living. I work full time as a Project Manager, with mornings, evenings & weekends spent in the gym, online coaching, writing articles or getting my head around the latest industry content. I live with my fiancee, who's recently discovered weights and wonders why she ever spent hours pounding the pavement! The Lab is based upon the fact that there is no one solution & no definitive answers. Learning, implementing, tweaking & improving is something we, as people, need to do every day.
I'm a fully qualified Fitness Professional (level 2 fitness instructor, level 3 Personal Trainer) and have taken several courses in nutrition & performance. Initially, my motivation for formalising my qualifications was fueled by two things:
1. Lazy, incompetent personal trainers and online coaches who treated their clients like cashcows - giving lazy, poor service and holding back information in order to keep them on the books. I've signed up to several of these services to see what was being offered and, for the most part, was shocked at the awful level of service and the one-size-fits-all approach that was being offered. My blood has boiled watching "Personal Trainers", being paid £60 an hour, spend 10 minutes texting as their client struggles to hold a plank - with dangerously bad form. Sadly, this is a common sight - but one that motivated me to make a positive impact on people's training and outlook on exercise.
2. The sheer lack of knowledge the general public have about nutrition and food in general. People claiming foods are "bad for you" with absolutely no logic or reason behind their opinions. These same people who fork over a premium for gluten-free bread with no understanding of what gluten actually is. On the flip side, folk guzzle down Innocent Smoothies as if they were the cure to all life's problems. That's 51g of sugar.. but marketing will have you believe that "organic" and "natural" products get a free pass. My absolute passion lies in talking about (as well as eating) food & empowering people to make the choices that will allow them to gain control of their bodies and health.
On top of my formal qualifications, over the course of the past few years I've read scores of books & hundreds of articles and studies as well as consuming thousands of hours of podcasts and videos - so I like to think I know what I'm talking about. It's my personal mission to help as many people as I can to understand their bodies and what they can do to improve themselves.
If you'd like to work with me, contact me today. I give you my word that you will not get a copy & paste response & 10 minutes of time per week.
